Study Room Packing Tips

In this part of our Removals Advice blog, we are excited to share our useful study room packing tips.

Study room often receives less consideration in the moving process, yet it is important to ensure that your paperwork arrives at your new home in perfect order and fragile equipment such as computer with its data gets there safely. Discover our useful study room packing tips to help you in this process.

Handling important documents:

First things first. Prioritize your significant documents by packing them separately before anything else. Keep these documents with you throughout the move to prevent any mishaps, such as the accidental loading of crucial paperwork that might be needed during the completion day. Retrieving such a box from a partially loaded van could cause unnecessary delays, affecting not just you but the other family moving in the chain.

Packing your filing cabinet:

Filing cabinet contents require small boxes due to the weight of the paper. Best pack the files from each drawer into separate boxes, labelling them accordingly. This organization makes it easier to restore the original order in your new study room. On the other hand, the filing cabinet unit will be handled by the removal team, so there is no need for any concerns there.

Preparing your computer:

For desktop computers and monitors, the ideal scenario is to use their original packaging. If that is not available, bubble wrap should be your go-to for wrapping the equipment before placing it in a large box. Use soft pillows to fill any gaps, providing extra cushioning during transport. Apply the same method for your monitor, adding a flat cardboard box to the screen's front for additional protection.

Disassembling your desk:

If your desk can be dismantled and you are confident in doing so, prepare it in advance. Otherwise, leave this task to the movers. Bubble wrap is essential for protecting the desk's surface, especially for glass top desks. You can also tape a flat cardboard for extra security.

Preparing books and bookshelves:

Here also use small boxes to avoid overloading. Keep the weight manageable, especially for heavier volumes like photo albums, by filling boxes no more than three-quarters full. Pack your books shelf by shelf into separate boxes for a straightforward unpacking process. For complex bookshelves, consider photographing them before dismantling to aid in reassembly process at your new home.

Printer preparation:

Wrap your printer in a generous layer of bubble wrap and pack it in a box, clearly marking it for the movers. If your printer is particularly large and cannot fit into a box, it might be best to leave its secure packing to the moving company.
